Enjoy the journey.
Success is a very relative thing. It means something else for each of us.
Rich and famous are on some of our lists, while for some, success consists of living a balanced life. The perfect equilibrium between work, family, and hobbies.
Sadly enough, some of us have never defined what success means to us—never had the time, I guess, to sit alone for some time with a piece of paper and a pen and write down what we wanted from life and God if failure was not an option.
Hey, it’s never too late to do it. If you don’t have a clear vision of what you would like your life to be, take out a crisp piece of paper, think about it, and write down your vision.
It is impossible to hit a target you are not aiming at. Write down your version of success and start aiming at it. See what happens.
Trust and enjoy the journey. Trust and enjoy the process.
I kept hearing the two statements, but I did not understand them until recently.
It will take time. When you start on your journey to success, there is nothing to trust and enjoy because you are a poorly developed lump of clay.
You have no idea what you are doing, what it will take to achieve your goals, or what you need to do or become to achieve them.
When you first start out on your journey, you will be information-hungry and start searching. When you search, you find, but the problem is that you are trying to do too much and all at once. Exhaustion and frustration will be there to greet you in your first steps.
A lot of time and hard work and seemingly no results.
The results will be there, but they are small, and you want to be successful now!
Soon enough, you find out that it does not work like that. Success does not come like flipping a light switch. It takes time. It is a process, a transition from what you are to what you want to be.
Quitting is going to be constantly on your radar.
But you won’t. For the first time in your life, you decide that you won’t quit on yourself and your dreams, and you keep going.
You start noticing results. People around you begin seeing them, too, and they will tell you that you changed.
Exactly the boost you needed.
This is the point where you understand that there is no way back. You are going to do this or die because you can’t go back to what you were.
And then, ohh, glorious day.
After all that comes the day when you start to love the journey and the process. You start trusting God more and more, and you finally understand and live the Bible verse:
Proverbs 3:5- 6: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
And then, after all that, my friend, you win.
Small at first. And then bigger and bigger. And you trust the journey more and more. And you fall deeply in love with the process. And before you know it, you are a new person in a new life.
The Chinese say that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Success!
With love, yours truly, Cristian.
