The self-improvement journey it’s a challenging one.
An African proverb says: “If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside cannot harm us.”
You have been fighting with your limitations, self-doubt, and maybe even depression and anxiety. Still, as you progress, you discover that the most challenging battles are the ones you have to fight with the people closest to you who don’t understand your hunger and drive.
They may tell you that real life is not in your books, so go out there, be free, and enjoy life. Have fun with friends. Life is short. YOLO!
You are so tired of explaining that you could do that if you wanted to because you have control over everything you do. But why would you do the same things that everybody else is doing if you want a different outcome than everybody else has?
How do you explain that you want, one day, to be surrounded by all these privileged individuals and be able to look them straight in the eye and tell them: “I’m not rich, I’m poor, but I have a lot of money. So, therefore, I should not be here with you. I stand beside you as your equal because I did not want to throw in the towel and quit. I just got up every day and went a little further.”
How do you explain that you made peace with the phrase get rich or die trying? If you are going to die trying, you will be happy and content because that is what you chose to do, and, to be honest, at this point, it’s not even about the money anymore. It’s personal!
How do you explain that you feel a call to action that screams from inside you? How do you explain that you did not choose to feel like this? How do you explain that sometimes this calling is exhausting you?
You don’t! Just stop explaining because they don’t understand that your actions will benefit them in the long run and don’t have to understand. It is just you versus you.
I want you to relax for just one minute and think about where you started. Where were you last year? How about three years ago?
I hope you hear it all the time, but if nobody told you this, I want to say that I am proud of you:
- I am proud that you wake up every day and start searching for another piece to construct that beautiful puzzle you call your life.
- I am proud of you because you are not selfish, and when you dream with your eyes open, your dream includes everyone around you.
- I am proud of you because you have such a big and loving heart that no matter how much everybody makes you feel weird or unwanted, you know you will bless them when you get your blessings.
And you will get it! Everything you can dream of. Just like it says in Isaiah 60:22, “When the time is right, I, The Lord, will make it happen.” And it’s going to be epic!
But until then, know I am proud of you, and you should be too!
Yours truly, Cristian.
