Your most profound battles, the ones that truly test your mettle, are fought and won or lost in the depths of your own being. It’s a testament to your personal strength and resilience.
There are no three-headed dragons outside following you and waiting to eat you alive.
From the outside, all that comes is temptation. The true monsters, the ones that truly test your mettle, are within you.
How many times does that beautiful girl from the gym have to bend in front of you until you forget all about your spouse, the words you said in front of the altar, your children, your family, and you reach out to her even though you know she’ll destroy everything you built in the last ten years with one touch?
How many times do those friends you know are not good for you have to invite you out for a drink until you cave in? Do you know that one drink that turns into one drink too many and waking up the following day unable to face yourself in the mirror?
How much pressure do laziness and procrastination have to put on you to keep you out of the gym for good?
How great does the fear of falling behind in society have to be for you to neglect your children and have you running around like a crazy person to catch the next dollar?
The monsters are inside of you. The only thing coming from outside is temptation.
And the battles are won or lost in your most intimate moments. Late at night, when you put your head on your pillow, and no one can hear your thoughts but you.
The”devil” is resilient, and the greater your dreams, the greater the pressure he will put on you to quit.
Who are you? What are you made of?
How much does he have to push your buttons to quit, and how hard does he have to push them to make sure you forget all your promises to yourself and your family?
How many no’s can you take until you stop trying?
How much public humiliation can you take until you tell yourself that quitting is the only reasonable option?
How much can you push forward without outside validation or confirmation?
How much?
Talk is cheap. Don’t tell me.
Show me!
That is what life is screaming in your face: “You had the courage to say it, now prove it!”
The monsters are inside!
With love, yours truly, Cristian.
