“What you do speaks so loudly I cannot hear what you are saying.”
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
There is this beautiful principle I came across that changed my view of people and the world.
The principle goes like this: – What you know helps you look good in conversations, but what you understand changes your life.
Let me give you an example. We all know that smoking is unhealthy, but the ones who understand it are nonsmokers.
You may have devoured hundreds of books and thousands of hours of motivational and inspirational content up until today. How much of what you know do you actually understand? How much of what you have learned transforms into daily action? How many of the success principles you have picked up along your self-improvement journey can we see in your daily routine?
Let me help you. Your non-negotiables are the things you understand from everything you know. Non-negotiable means not open for debate or modification.
It may be prayer, meditation, reading, gym, spending time with loved ones, helping and inspiring others, sleeping at a particular hour, waking up at a predetermined time, take your pick.
If you do not have non-negotiables, it means you may know a lot of things, but you don’t understand much.
Maybe you don’t need to listen to another podcast. You may need to start to apply some of the knowledge you already have.
My point is that action takes you from A to B. You can talk all you want about climbing a mountain, but at one point, you need to get out of bed and start making those first steps to reach that peak.
Action.
Action.
Action!
With love, yours truly, Cristian.
