Practice what you preach.
From my perspective and experience on this journey called life, I try to avoid giving advice. I’m not particularly eager to advise because I understand that we are different, and our experiences and perceptions about life are different. So what advice could I give to you? I can tell you what I have done up until right now and what kind of results I have obtained and how I tailored what I do, how I do it when I do it, and why I do it to get the results that I am after but I am always expecting you to put it thru your own filters and tailor what I give you to your own needs and wants.
Does that make sense? Ok.
Practice what you preach.
I don’t really have a problem with people because I don’t have a problem anymore with being understood or wanted. But the people I don’t have any respect for and don’t want into my life at all are the ones that are always preaching, never practicing what they are preaching, and then acting and expecting respect and praise, like they are the best at practicing it.
Let me give you an example. You have two different sports commentators. They are both brilliant at their job. One of them is commentating from the commentator’s perspective. He always lets you know he is a commentator and never confuses himself with the players or the game’s experts. He knows his role and his place. The other commentator expresses himself from the expert’s position. He always talks like he is one of the greats of the game. I feel so much shame in watching that guy. Like a smoker, while he is smoking, telling me from a nonsmoker’s energy how smoking is bad for you.
I’m telling you, that makes me angry. Of course, I laugh afterward, but it first makes me angry.
I found out in life that those who do it at the highest level are humble and don’t give advice. They love to share the experience, but they always want to let you know that you have to do it yourself and that maybe your venture will be different from their experience.
And then there is the business teacher who drives a 2006 Ford Focus, all beat up, making 40 grand a year, barely, that swears on his life and his existence that he has the 5 proper steps to financial freedom.
I hate that guy!
Don’t be that guy!
Practice what you preach, and don’t be afraid to say: Hey, I don’t know. I really have not thought about that.
I don’t know!
With love, yours truly, Cristian.
