If you haven’t already, I need you to think about social media as an advertising platform because that is precisely what social media platforms are. Advertising platforms.
Now.
When you advertise something to sell, you describe the product as best as you can and point out all the best parts. Or what you think those best parts are. Right?
You don’t advertise a car as dirty and point out what is wrong with it, and you don’t tell people to not buy it. You first clean it, take the best pictures and describe it as something that the next person would want and need.
The thing about advertising is that you have to keep in mind that, at one point, the buyer will come and see the car. If you lied in your ad and presented the car much better than it actually is, you will look stupid. You want to advertise the product as well as you can but still let the buyer be pleasantly surprised by the fact that the product is at least as good as advertised, if not much better.
Back to social media. How are you advertising yourself? What results are you getting? Do you adopt the “fake it till you make it” philosophy?
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.” -Albert Einstein.
How are you advertising yourself? What are you trying to “sell” us, and what would be our reaction when we saw you in person?
If you only advertise your body, how you look, and how you dress, what do you expect us to want from you? If we would see you as a sexual object, would we be wrong?
How many filters are you using? If we would see you in person, would we recognize you? Would we be impressed or disappointed?
If you are unsatisfied with your progress and how the world responds to your advertising, is it our problem? Are we all blind or insane, or do you need to change how you present yourself?
I’m not judging. Don’t get me wrong.
I am just trying to make you understand that you are always in complete control.
If you like the results, keep going. If you don’t like the results, don’t be afraid to stop and start from scratch.
And remember that including God in the equation is never a bad idea.
With love, yours truly, Cristian.
